Description

Numbers 32 and 33 are two terraced houses located on Percy Street, built between 1766 and 1770, with some alterations. They were constructed by W. Franks, W. Richmond, H. Roydhouse, and J. Pritchet, and have been partially re-faced to follow the original design.

No. 32 features multi-coloured stock brick and a slated mansard roof with dormers. It has a stucco first floor sill and floor bands, along with an earlier 19th-century shopfront that includes a projecting shop window with an entablature and a projecting dentil cornice. The glazing has been altered. The wooden doorcase is adorned with pilasters that support an enriched console-bracketed entablature, a round-arched fanlight, and a panelled door. The windows have gauged red brick flat arches and are recessed sashes. The parapet completes the exterior. Inside, there is an open tread stair with a moulded, wreathed handrail, turned balusters, and column newels. The ceiling of the first-floor front room is moulded with foliated wreaths and a central patera, along with a patterned cornice.

No. 33 is constructed of red stock brick and features a slated mansard roof with a large dormer. It has a stone cornice at the third-floor level, stucco first floor sill and floor bands, and stands four storeys tall, with the third floor being a later addition. This house has three windows and a late 19th-century stucco shopfront with four bays and round-arched openings that match the 18th-century doorway. The wooden doorcase has pilasters supporting enriched consoles, although the entablature has been removed. Inside, the first-floor front room boasts a moulded ceiling with a rope and floral design, along with a patterned cornice.

The properties also feature attached cast-iron railings with torch flambe finials in front of the areas.
