Description
No. 38 Tottenham Court Road is a terraced house that includes a later shop and has a return on No. 20 Percy Street. It was built between 1764 and 1770 by W. Franks, W. Richmond, H. Roydhouse, and J. Pritchet. The building is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, which is painted red on the Percy Street facade. It features a slate mansard roof with dormers and has three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The facade has two windows, with three on the second floor, and a three-window return to Percy Street. The ground floor has a late 19th-century shopfront that extends to Percy Street. The recessed sash windows have gauged brick flat arches. To the right of the Percy Street facade, there is a house doorway with a wooden doorcase that includes pilasters supporting an enriched console-bracketed entablature, along with a fanlight and a panelled door. The interior has not been inspected.
