Description
No. 14 Percy Street is a terraced house with a later shop, built between 1764 and 1770 by W Franks, W Richmond, H Roydhouse, and J Prichet. The building features multi-coloured stock bricks and has a slated mansard roof with dormers. A stone cornice and a stucco first-floor sill band add to its architectural detail. The house has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with three windows visible from the street. The ground floor is stuccoed and includes a 20th-century shopfront and a house doorway. Recessed sash windows are topped with gauged red brick arches, and there is a parapet above. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this house was the home of Coventry Patmore, a poet and essayist, from 1863 to 1864, as noted by a plaque from the Greater London Council.
