Description
This is a terrace of five houses located on the north side of Pond Square. Number 1 dates from the early 19th century and features brown brick with a slated mansard roof that includes dormers. It has two storeys, an attic, and a semi-basement, with three windows. The round-arched doorway has a fanlight and a panelled door, accessed by steps with wrought-iron railings. The windows have cambered arches and recessed sashes, and there is a parapet.
Numbers 2 and 3 were built in the mid-18th century, with number 3 being a late 18th-century extension of number 2, which was then refronted. Both are made of painted brick with slated mansard roofs and feature two storeys with dormers. Number 2 has three windows, while number 3 has one window. They both have square-headed doorways with stucco surrounds and panelled doors, with number 2 having an overlight and number 3 originally featuring a segmental-arched doorway. The windows are segmental arched with recessed sashes and there is a parapet.
Numbers 4 and 5 are from the early 18th century, constructed of red brick with a tiled mansard roof and dormers. They have two storeys, an attic, and a semi-basement, with two windows each and a central blind window. The doorcases are wooden with shaped brackets and flat hoods, leading to partly glazed panelled doors. The windows have gauged brick flat arches and flush sashes with exposed boxing, and there are plain brick bands at the first-floor level and below the parapet. The interiors have not been inspected.
