Description
54 and 55 Highgate West Hill are two terraced houses. No. 54 was probably built around 1739 and was refronted in the later 18th century. The ground floor is rendered, while the first floor features painted brick. It has a 20th-century tiled mansard roof with a four-light dormer. The building is two storeys tall with an attic and has four windows. The central entrance has a wooden doorcase with Doric pilasters, a dentil cornice, and a pediment, leading to a panelled door. The windows have cambered arches and the ground floor includes a shallow canted bay window on the left. There is a plain brick band at the first-floor level and at the parapet.
No. 55 is possibly from the early 18th century and was refronted in the early 19th century. It is constructed of darkened brick and has a tiled hipped roof. This house is also two storeys tall and has two windows. The windows feature painted brick flat arches and are recessed. The entrance is located on the right-hand return and has a square-headed design with a 20th-century wooden hood, overlight, and panelled door.
The interiors have not been inspected.
