Description
31 and 31A Hampstead High Street is a terraced house with a later shop, dating from the early 18th century and refronted in the later 19th century. It is built of multi-coloured stock brick with red brick dressings and has three storeys with four windows. The 20th-century shopfront features a wooden dentil cornice. The house door is located to the right and has a stucco surround with a late 19th-century console bracket stop to the left of the overlight, and a panelled door. To the right of the door, there is a carriage entrance with a three-light window above it. The upper floors are divided into three bays by brick pilaster strips, with a band at the first floor. The recessed sashes on the first floor have segmental arches. A cornice and parapet rise to form a rectangular gable with an oculus above the central windows. The rear of the building retains the original early 18th-century facade made of brown brick, featuring floor bands and segmental-arched windows. The interior has not been inspected.
