Description
40 Well Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of white brick and features a slate roof with a wide paired modillion eaves cornice. The front of the house has raised brick pilasters with moulded capitals at each end. The building is two storeys high and has a cellar. There is one window on each storey: the upper storey has a 12-pane sash window with a rendered flat arch in shallow reveals, while the ground storey features a large late 19th-century canted bay with three sash windows that do not have glazing bars and a flat lead-covered roof. The entrance door is a four-panel design with a plain rectangular fanlight, set within a wooden doorcase that has a rendered flat arch. The interior has not been inspected.
