Description
Church Close is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is timber-framed and rendered, featuring a slate roof with wide overhanging eaves. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a two-cell lobby-entrance plan and an internal chimney stack that has a plain truncated red brick shaft. The double wall plates, visible in the gable end, suggest that the house was reroofed, likely in the 18th century, during which small-paned sash windows in flush frames were installed. There is a late 19th-century enclosed gabled porch with a door that has four flush panels and a rectangular fanlight above. Additionally, there is a 19th-century extension with a pantiled roof at the rear, and a mid-20th-century flat-roofed single-storey extension on the south side.
