Description
The building is a tower mill located in Bardwell on School Lane, dating from around 1830, with a beam in the cap frame that is dated 1823. It is currently under restoration. The mill features a ground floor and three upper floors, constructed of tarred red brick with a slight convex batter. The roof is a metal-clad beehive style, topped with a finial that was fitted over the original cap frame in 1979. The sails and fantail assembly are missing. The machinery inside is largely intact, including a cast iron windshaft, wooden brakewheel, cast iron wallower, wooden upright shaft, spurwheel, and crownwheel. Previously, the machinery was driven by an engine through an underground drive from the adjacent granary, and there were two pairs of over-driven millstones.
