Description
Stow Hill Windmill is a tower mill built in 1827. It is constructed of tarred brick and features a timber faceted domed cap. The mill has four storeys and a door located on the west side. It has segmental headed 20th-century iron casements at the cardinal points, with glazing bars, and two windows on each floor that are blind. Below the fantail gallery, there is a vertically boarded petticoat. The mill has an 8-vaned fantail with gearing and four sails that were erected in 1983.
Inside, the first floor is empty, while the second floor contains an upright shaft and gearing that were installed in 1983, sourced from Houghton Conquest Mill in Bedfordshire. The third floor features a windshaft, brakewheel, and wallower, also installed in 1983 from the same mill.
