Description

Old Post Office Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, with some partial rebuilding from the late 17th or 18th century and an 18th to 19th century wing at the rear. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and was formerly designed with an attic, featuring a two-cell layout. The windows are casements, with 19th century windows on the first floor and mid-20th century windows on the ground floor. There are two mid-20th century boarded entrance doors and a central axial stack. The left-hand room on the first floor retains 16th century studding, but the quality of the timbering throughout the house indicates significant later reconstruction. The cottage is included for its group value.
