Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century. It has a timber frame and is plastered, with some remaining decorative pargetting on the east side. The roof is steep and gable-ended, covered with black glazed pantiles. The south end of the building is from the 16th century and features two storeys and an attic, with attic windows in the gable ends. There are three windows, which are 19th and 20th century casements with glazing bars, and a central two-panel door with a rectangular fanlight.
Inside, the roof has wind-braces, and there are chamfered ceiling beams. The northern part of the house is a 17th-century cross wing that has a jettied first floor supported by brackets and a jettied gable. The ground floor has a two-light sash window, while the first floor has three sash windows, all with glazing bars, and there is an attic lunette in the gable. A brick chimney stack is located at the junction of the two sections. The north room features an ovolo moulded ceiling beam. There is also a 18th or 19th-century wing to the south-west.
