Description
Withersdale Cross is a house that was formerly known as the Golden Cross inn. It dates back to the 16th century, with a single-storey gabled addition to the right that is likely from the 18th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring a front roof covered with plain tiles, while the rear has a combination of pantiles and slates. It has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-cell layout. The front displays various old casement windows, with a range of three visible. There is a 19th-century half-glazed entrance door located in the side wall of the later addition. Inside, there is an internal stack and much good quality but plain timbering, along with several blocked mullioned windows. In the section of the front wall that is now part of the later addition, two well-crafted diamond-mullioned windows have been opened out, and there are newel stairs present.
