Description
Nos 1 and 2 Church Cottages are two houses that were originally built as one in the 17th century or earlier. They are one storey high with attics and were likely constructed with a three-cell lobby-entrance plan, which has since been extended to the right. The cottages are timber-framed and plastered, featuring a plaintiled roof, although the right section has been renewed with concrete plaintiles, replacing the original thatch.
The cottages have three casement dormers: on the left is a raking dormer from the 19th century with a 20th-century casement, while on the right are two late 20th-century gabled dormers. There is a 16th or 17th-century axial chimney made of red brick on the left and an 18th or 19th-century axial chimney on the right. The windows are fitted with 20th-century small-pane casements, and there is a 19th-century boarded door at the lobby-entrance position. The interior has not been examined.
