Description

This is a thatched cottage, likely dating from the 16th or early 17th century, and built in two distinct stages. It has a three-cell plan, with a timber frame and plaster infill. Some 18th or early 19th century herringbone pargetting (decorative brickwork) is visible on the right side. The roof is thatched. A notable feature is an early 17th century axial chimney constructed of red brick, with a sunk date panel on both the front and back of its base. The windows are mostly early 19th century casements, with one replacement window from the mid-20th century. A late 19th century entrance porch features a four-panelled door. There's evidence suggesting the parlour cell may be of a different date and is structurally discontinuous. A thatched extension, dating from the 18th or 19th century, is located at the front on the right side, with a catslide roof. The interior has not been inspected.
