GT ASHFIELD LONG THURLOW ROAD Ashfield Lodge (formerly listed as The Lodge)

GV II

House, early C19. Gault brick. Hipped slated roofs with secret gutter behind moulded and modillioned cornice. Internal chimneys of gault brick. 2 storeys. 5-window main range with a slightly set-back range of 3 windows to left, and a later C19 block set forward of one triple window width. Small- pane sashes with flat arches of gauged brick. Those at ground storey of main range have semicircular blind arched heads. The centre bay is slightly set forward with a pediment above. Inner entrance doorway has a semi-circular fanlight with tracery. Tuscan portico porch with twin columns flanking entrance, and flat entablature with triglyphs. Glazing and pair of glazed panelled doors probably a later C19 addition. A single storey extension to right of late C19 and others to rear. Interior not examined.
