Description
This barn, located 70 metres east of Meadow View Farmhouse, was built in 1769, as noted on a carved post-head inside the entrance. It features three bays and is constructed from timber framing with weatherboarding. The roof is half-hipped and covered with pantiles. On the south side, there is a set of four boarded barn doors in the central bay. The principal posts are adorned with well-carved jowls and cyma offsets. Originally, the tie-beams had long arch-braces at the open trusses, but three of these were replaced with knee braces in the 19th century. The barn showcases primary braced studwork, with two tiers of butt purlins on each roof slope and intermediate principal rafters positioned at mid-bay locations. It is recognized as a good example of a small, dated mid-18th century barn.
