Description

The Old Chemist's Shop is a house and veterinary surgery dating from around 1600. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, showing some traces of ashlar-lining. The building has a pantiled roof, although the front slope has been covered with modern concrete tiles. It stands two storeys high and features three 19th-century casement windows. The entrance includes a 19th-century doorway with an architrave, cornice, and a half-glazed four-panel door. To the left of the doorway, there is a pair of French windows topped with a pedimented cornice. On the right side, there are canted former shop windows that were rebuilt in the mid-20th century. An internal stack is present, but the interior has not been examined.
