Description
Ashley House is a house and veterinary surgery dating from around 1830. It is constructed of Flemish bond brown brick on a sandstone plinth, topped with a hipped grey slate roof. The building has two storeys and features five symmetrical windows. The front door consists of four fielded panels and is set within a good Roman Doric case, topped with a looped radial bar semi-elliptical fanlight in a basket-arched recess. The lower storey has four-pane recessed sashes, which were formerly twelve-pane windows with vertical bars removed. There is a band at the first floor, and the upper storey has twelve-pane recessed sashes. All windows have gauged brick flat arches and projecting stone cills. A fascia with a moulded top runs beneath the widely projecting boxed eaves, and there are symmetrically placed brick chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
