GISLINGHAM RUSH GREEN (NORTH SIDE) TM 0771 6/58 Two barns and attached - sheds at Rush Green Farm about 50m west of Holm Oak House

GV II

Two barns. Late C17 or early C18. Timber frames on brick bases, weatherboarded. Barn to north has a thatched roof, that to south a steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof. 3 bays each. North barn has central double doors, with an opposed short lean-to midstrey. South barn has central double doors, 2 double doors to rear, loft opening in gable end, double red brick plinth. Interior: North barn has through tension bracing, arched braces to tie beams replaced by knees, cambered collars clasping purlins. South barn has through tension bracing, 2 bays floored over, double staggered tenoned purlins, collars to principals, one truss has a collar clasping purlins. C19 low weatherboarded and part open pantiled sheds link barns and extend towards house from north barn, attached to south barn an open shed with iron uprights, hipped pantiled roof. Included for group value.
