Description

Two barns and attached sheds at Rush Green Farm, located about 50 meters west of Holm Oak House, date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They feature timber frames on brick bases and are weatherboarded. The barn to the north has a thatched roof, while the southern barn has a steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof. Each barn consists of three bays. The north barn has central double doors and a short lean-to midstrey opposite. The south barn also has central double doors, two double doors at the rear, a loft opening in the gable end, and a double red brick plinth.

Inside, the north barn includes through tension bracing, arched braces to tie beams that have been replaced by knees, and cambered collars clasping the purlins. The south barn features through tension bracing, two floored-over bays, double staggered tenoned purlins, collars to the principals, and one truss with a collar clasping the purlins.

There are also 19th-century low weatherboarded and partly open pantiled sheds that link the barns and extend towards the house from the north barn. An open shed with iron uprights and a hipped pantiled roof is attached to the south barn. This group of buildings is included for its group value.
