Description

The service building immediately south west of Holm Oak House is a former kitchen and dairy range dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and has a steeply pitched plain tiled roof. The building consists of three bays and is two storeys high.

On the ground floor, there is a cross entry to the right of the centre bay, which has a boarded door. To the left is the kitchen, which includes an early three-light leaded casement window and a two-light glazing bar casement, both under a single hoodboard with a door. To the right, the dairy has a two-light glazing bar casement. The right gable end features two ground floor and one first floor six-light diamond mullioned windows, although some of the mullions have been removed. At the rear, there is a boarded cross entry door and a six-light diamond mullioned window for the dairy, along with a rebuilt external stack with offsets and oven outshuts behind the kitchen.

Inside, the building retains early internal sliding shutters, exposed studding, jowled storey posts, stop-chamfered binding beams and joists, reverse cranked arched braces in the walling, cambered collars, and halved principals clasp purlins.
