Description

Jasmine Cottage is a house that was originally built in the mid to late 17th century and has since been extended and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber frame that is plastered, topped with a thatched roof and black glazed and red pantiles on the additions. It has a small four-bay, three-cell lobby entry plan, with two additional bays added at the upper end. The building is one storey and has an attic, along with a lower two-storey extension.

On the ground floor, the entrance is located to the right of the center and features an architraved door with a 19th-century trellised porch. To the left of the entrance, there is a leaded three-light casement window, and to the right, a two-light glazing bar casement window, both with hoodboards. The roof includes two two-light dormers with metal frames and leaded panes. An axial ridge stack with a rebuilt capping is positioned to the right of center, between the hall and parlour. The left gable end displays pentice boards, brackets to the plates, and exposed purlins. At the rear, there is a continuous 19th-century lean-to that is pantiled and has an extruded stack at the service end.

Set back on the right gable end is a 19th-century addition that has plaster scored to resemble ashlar, leaded and glazing bar casements, and boxed eaves. The right end of this addition oversails the upper storey on curved brackets and features an external stack. Inside, the hall and parlour have bar and X stop-chamfered axial binding beams and fireplace bressumers.
