Description
Fig Tree Cottage is a house dating from the mid 17th century, with later alterations. Originally a three-cell farmhouse, the parlour cell on the right side has since been lost. The building is timber framed, mostly covered in red brick from the mid 19th century, and features a roof made of glazed black pantiles. It has two storeys and an attic, with three windows that are mid 20th century standard casements lacking glazing bars. The original window openings have cambered stucco arches and raised keys. There is a mid 20th century door with a wooden porch, and two raking dormers. The gable stacks have been altered in a Victorian style. Inside, the main components of the frame are mostly exposed, and there is a newel staircase. Some 18th century two-panel and boarded doors are present, along with two late 18th century arched cupboards at the service end.
