METFIELD SCHOOL LANE TM 28 SE 9/99 Field Cottage - -- II

House. Circa 1500. Timber framed and plastered with a thatched roof. 1½ storeys. Various old casement windows. Boarded entrance door to left. Internal stack. A former open hall house with storied accommodation at each end. C17 inserted floor with chamfered joists laid flat. The tie beam of the former open truss has been removed but there is said to be evidence for a queen-post roof.
