GV II

House. Late C16, refronted and altered c1830. Timber-framed with brick facade. Roof of black-glazed pantiles. 2 storeys. 3-window range. Double timber doors in centre lead to carriageway. Late C20 soldier arch over. Half-glazed C19 door to left. To left of this is a late C19 3-light casement under segmental arch. To right of carriageway a plate-glass late C20 shop display window and door. Three 3-light C19 segment-headed casements to first floor. Gabled roof. External stack to rear originally internal to C16 house extending north-south with gable-end to street. Rear 2-storey cross wing survives from this house. C20 flat-roofed kitchen extension. INTERIOR: timber frame with chamfered bridging beams and plain joists. Jowled principal posts. Rebuilt open fireplace with bressumer stamped with Ionic scrolls.
