Description
Castle House is an early 19th-century house located on Church Street in Eye. It features a rendered and colorwashed timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a five-window range. To the far right of the front elevation, there is a six-panelled door within a moulded timber doorcase that supports a plain entablature. On the far left, there is a more recent late 20th-century door within a contemporary gabled porch. Between these doors, there are four 2- and 3-light 19th-century casement windows, with five 2-light 19th-century casements on the first floor. The roof is gabled and hipped to the south, with a transverse ridge stack located towards the north end. Inside, both staircases have been replaced in the 20th century.
