Description
This is a pair of gate piers dating from around 1867, built for Lankester Webb. They were originally used to support gates at the entrance to the Model Farm from Park Road. Each pier stands approximately 2.3 meters high and measures 0.5 meters square, featuring a slight chamfer and resting on a splayed plinth made of gault brick. The piers are topped with heavy weathered capping of reconstituted stone and have a simple moulded brick cornice below. Although the gate hinges are still in place, the gates themselves are missing. These piers are included for their group value.
