Description

Model Farm, built in 1867, is a red brick structure with gault brick quoins, designed by J.O. Fraser and completed under the supervision of O. Andrews, with Andrews & Son as the builders. A plaque above the limestone entrance archway commemorates the construction and design team. The farm comprises a series of ranges arranged around a yard, with slate roofs (some areas have been finished with asbestos sheeting). The front range has a gable front. The layout features an outer gateway with 5 gabled bays, alternately set backward and forward. The gateway itself has a semicircular arch topped with a plaque, framed and boarded gates, and an octagonal timber lantern on the roof. The second bay on each side features a shallow blind arch, and the fourth bay contains two doorways with framed and boarded doors. The barn, timber-framed and weather-boarded, is situated at the rear of the yard, which is further infilled with other timber-framed buildings.
