Description
This barn, located 30 meters north-west of Millgreen Farmhouse, dates from the mid or late 16th century, with extensions added in the late 18th century. It originally consists of four bays, with the southern bay partitioned off and previously used as a stable with a chaff-loft above. The structure is timber-framed, showcasing much of the original wattle and daub, and is enhanced with 18th and 19th-century weatherboarding. It features a hipped thatched roof and has a set of four barn doors in the central bay, along with smaller boarded doors in other locations. The barn exhibits good framing, with studwork and long ogee-curved tension-braces. It has arch-braced open trusses, with the braces renewed using 18th and 19th-century knees, and a clasped-purlin roof. Around 1800, a fifth bay was added at the northern end for additional stabling. There is also a thatched porch and 19th-century pantiled extensions at the rear.
