Description
Mill House is a house from the early 16th century, likely with alterations made in the later 16th century. It has one storey and attics, featuring a timber-framed structure with roughcast. The roof is thatched with a half-hipped design and includes eyebrow casement dormers. There is a red brick chimney from the 17th or 18th century at the center of the house. The windows are small-pane casements from the 19th and 20th centuries, and there is a boarded entrance door. The framing is unmoulded, fully exposed, and quite complete, showcasing arch wind-braced studwork, a crownpost roof with square posts, and plank braces above the original right-hand section. The layout is unusual; the original house likely had a three-cell cross-entry form with the service cell on the right. In the later 16th century, another cell was added to the left, creating an additional cross-entry, and the present chimney was probably inserted at that time. The rear doorway features a three-centred arch.
