Description
The Borough and County Central Club is a notable 18th-century building located at 1260 Lower Brook Street. It is constructed of red brick and features corner pilasters and a plinth. The building has two storeys and attics, with a five-window range. The double-hung sash windows are set in flush cased frames; the first-storey windows have glazing bars, while the ground-storey windows do not. The central section, which includes the doorway and one window above, slightly projects forward. A raised brick band separates the two storeys. The entrance features a central six-panel door topped by a semi-circular fanlight, framed by a wooden doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment. The roof is tiled and includes a paired modillioned wooden eaves cornice and three flat-headed dormers. The building is part of a group with Nos 7, 9, and 15, as well as Nos 6 to 18 (even) and 18A.
