Description

No. 17 Arcade Street is a mid-19th century building made of white brick, featuring a rounded corner where Arcade Street meets Museum Street. The building has two storeys and a three-window arrangement on Arcade Street, a one-window arrangement on the corner, and a four-window arrangement on Museum Street. The windows are semi-circular headed, set back behind stilted arches supported by slender columns. The facade slightly projects at each window range, with pediments above the corner range and the three-light windows on Museum Street. A moulded brick cornice runs across both facades, and there is a modillion and dentil cornice band between the two storeys. The Arcade Street front includes a central semi-circular arched doorway, and the roof is covered with slate.
