Description
Nos 9 and 11 Museum Street are a pair of early to mid 19th century houses made of grey gault brick. They are connected to Nos 5 and 7 by a wall that features a doorway with a recessed brick surround. The buildings are two storeys high, with attics and cellars, and have a five-window range. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, mostly original, set in plain reveals with stucco cornices supported by brackets. The central and two outer window ranges are slightly recessed within panels. There are two four-panel doors, each with stucco Ionic doorcases that include plain engaged columns, friezes, and pediments. A moulded stucco string course runs along the first-storey window sill level. The roof is covered with 20th-century slate and features five flat-headed dormers above a modillion eaves cornice. Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and No 13 (Old Museum Rooms) form a group with No 10, while Nos 14 to 32 (even) and Nos 14 and 16 on Arcade Street are also part of the group.
