Description
16 Museum Street is an early to mid-19th century house made of grey gault brick, featuring pilaster treatment at the corners. The building has three storeys and a basement, with a three-window range. The double-hung sash windows on the first and second storeys have glazing bars, while the ground storey windows have plain glass. Each window is framed by narrow stucco panelled architraves. The windows on the ground and first storeys are topped with cornices supported by small console brackets. The ground storey windows are positioned above a plain stucco Doric doorcase, which includes fluted half columns, a triglyph frieze, and a cornice, all accessed by stone steps. The roof is slate, featuring a stucco modillion eaves cornice. This building is part of a group that includes No 10, Nos 14 to 32 (even), Nos 1 to 11 (odd), No 13 (Old Museum Rooms), and Nos 14 and 16 on Arcade Street.
