Description
Nos 5 and 7 Museum Street are a pair of early to mid 19th century houses made of grey gault brick. They feature a stucco parapet and cornice, with the front slightly projecting under two stucco pediments. The buildings are two storeys high, with attics and cellars, and have a five-window range. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in stucco reveals, and they are adorned with architraves and cornices supported by brackets. There are two six-panel doors with plain fanlights and narrow panelled architraves, which are framed by stucco doorcases featuring Doric fluted and cabled engaged columns, triglyph friezes, and cornices. A moulded stucco string course runs along the first-storey window sill level. The roofs are slate and include three gabled dormers. Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and No 13 (Old Museum Rooms) are part of a group with No 10, while Nos 14 to 32 (even) and Nos 14 and 16 on Arcade Street are also included in the context.
