Description
Nos 31 and 33 on Westgate Street is a mid-19th century building that features a quadrant corner leading to Museum Street. It is complemented by No 35, creating an attractive entrance to Museum Street. The building stands three stories tall and has a total of six windows, with three facing Westgate Street, one on the corner, and two on Museum Street. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in plain reveals, topped with stucco cornice lintels. The central window range on Westgate Street and the end window range on Museum Street are accentuated by ornamental panelled stucco pilasters. The ground floor includes 20th-century shop windows situated between 19th-century fluted Doric columns, topped by a modillioned cornice above the fascia. The roofs are slate with a modillion eaves cornice. Nos 31 and 33 are part of a group that includes No 35, No 2 Museum Street, and Nos 1 and 3 Museum Street.
