Description

21 Museum Street is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered building, with a return front onto Elm Street. It was restored and altered in the 20th century and was formerly part of No. 20 Elm Street, which has since been demolished. The building includes a cross wing at the south end, and the upper storey juts out on the Elm Street front, revealing the timber framing. It has two storeys and attics. The windows are casement windows with lattice leaded lights. The ground storey was rebuilt in the 20th century and features a cutaway corner and posts carved in a style appropriate to the period. The roof is tiled and from the 20th century. There is a small window in the gable and one small dormer on the Elm Street front, both lighting the attics.
