Entrance Wall and gates to Christchurch Park TM 1644 NE 2/333

  1. A late Cl9 or early C2O red brick wall with purple brick diapering, built in a similar style to the C16 wall adjoining on the east. It sweeps back in a wide semi-circle from the frontage of Soane Street with large square corner and gate piers which are surmounted by stone cone finials. The central gateway has a plain wrot iron gate. At the south end there is a side entrance way with a stepped wall and a Tudor arch with stone hood mould. The gateway stands between 2 piers. At the south end the wall incorporates No 1 Soane Street (The Lodge to Christchurch Mansion) of which a gabled wing projects in front.

Nos 2 to 8 (even), No 1 (Lodge to Christchurch Mansion), Entrance Wall and Gates to Christchurch Park and Brick Wall to St Margaret's Churchyard form a group with Nos 56 and 58 (Cafe Blanchfleur), St Margaret's Street.
