Description
23 St Margaret's Green is a former inn, previously known as The Saracen's Head, dating from the 16th to 17th century. This timber-framed and plastered building features cross wings at both the north and south ends and is currently faced in roughcast plaster. It has two storeys and a four-window range with 20th-century double-hung sashes that lack glazing bars. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shopfront, and the roofs are tiled. Despite significant alterations, the building retains its original 16th to 17th-century form and adds to the character of the square.
Nos 21 and 23 are part of a group that includes Nos 10, 12, 26 to 30 (even), the Church of St Margaret, and Nos 2 to 6 (even) Bolton Lane.
