Description
The brick wall to St Margaret's Churchyard is a 16th-century structure made of red brick. It extends approximately 150 feet east from the entrance to Christchurch Park to a 20th-century entrance into St Margaret's Churchyard. The wall features two moulded brick string courses and is interrupted every 24 feet by octagonal piers. At the west end, there is a section about 12 feet high with a moulded stone coping and a moulded stone cap and finial on the pier. The rest of the wall stands between 6 and 8 feet high, topped with a 20th-century precast coping. At the eastern end, only the base of the wall remains, measuring about 27 feet. This wall is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even), No 1 (Lodge to Christchurch Mansion), the entrance wall and gates to Christchurch Park, and Nos 56 and 58 (Cafe Blanchfleur) on St Margaret's Street.
