Description
The premises occupied by Lloyds Bank, located on the west side of Exchange Square, date back to the 18th century and have undergone alterations. The building has served as a bank since 1820 and consists of three storeys. It is likely constructed of stone with added stucco. The exterior features a heavy bracket cornice and a hipped pantile roof. There are seven sash windows without glazing bars. The entrances are notable, centrally positioned within mutular Doric cases that include triglyphs. The ground floor windows have been modified to arched windows with 19th century stucco cases. Inside, the residence retains some early 18th century features. Lloyds Bank and the adjoining premises to the north and south form a group with Nos 1 and 3 Newmarket.
