Description

No. 2 Newmarket is a building that likely dates from the early 19th century. It is three storeys high and constructed of red brick, featuring pilasters. The building has four sash windows with glazing bars. The western half of the ground floor has had two windows altered to match the three-light sash windows of the King's Head Hotel, which also have glazing bars, near-flush frames, and flat arches. The eastern half of the ground floor includes a shop front with a wooden case. This building is part of a group with the King's Head Hotel, contributing to the significant architectural character of the area around the "island" in Newmarket.
