Description
The Gables is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century. It has a timber-framed structure, with the facade covered in early 20th century colourwashed brick, while the rest of the building is plastered. The roof is made of modern pantiles and the house is two storeys tall with an attic, arranged in a three-cell form. There are three windows with various casements, a gabled porch, and a mid-20th century door located where the cross passage would have been. A mid-20th century glazed door is situated below the stack. On the right-hand gable end, there is a single-storey lean-to. Inside, there are original newel stairs on both flights, good exposed framing, and original floorboarding on the first floor, along with a fine exposed roof structure in the attic.
