Description
Watson's Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a mid-20th century addition on the left side. The building is timber framed and encased in red brick, with some parts built in rat-trap bond. The right gable end was entirely rebuilt in the mid-20th century and is rendered. The roof is covered with pantiles and the farmhouse has two storeys plus an attic. Originally designed as a two-cell structure with a lobby entry, it has been extended to three cells. The windows are mid-20th century casements, and there is a conservatory-type porch added during the same period. Inside, there are two internal stacks, with the smaller one located at the gable end of the original range. Some of the timber frame is exposed internally, featuring an original first-floor window with ovolo mullions. In one ground floor room, the joists are set on edge, while in the other room they are concealed. The original newel stairs remain, and the roof includes clasped and diminished butt purlins.
