Description
Cambridge Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with an extension from the 18th century and later alterations. It features a timber-frame structure that is plastered and colourwashed, with a brick gable wall on the left. The roof is covered with pantiles and has brick stacks at the ends. The layout consists of a two-unit through-passage plan, and the building is two storeys high. The front has a two-window range that includes a three-light centre-opening casement and a two-light casement above two additional two-light casements. There is a central open porch with a plank door. On the left end, there is a two-light casement on the first floor. The single-storey and attic extension on the right end has a plank door with a three-over-six sash window to the left and a two-light gabled dormer above. At the rear, there is an outshut on both parts of the building, covered by catslide roofs.
Inside, the cottage features tall panel framing with tension braces and jowled posts. The tiebeams are visible, but the collars and the roof above are obscured. There is also a plank door on the opposite side of the through passage.
