Description
DALLINGHOO POUND HILL TM 25 SE 9/57 Post Office House - - II
House. C16 with C18 addition and C19 facades. Timber framed with colourwashed render and plain tile roof, originally thatched. Two storeys with attic. Entrance front: C19 front doors at right and left of centre having gabled porches with decorative bargeboards and mace finials. To the ground floor between these, and at either side are four C19 cross windows with Tudor hood moulds. Similar first floor windows, though of less height. Gable at near-centre with a single central light, drop finials and a mace finial. To the ridge at right and left of centre are massive chimney stacks with rectangular bases and sawtoothed flues, that at left having ball ornament, that at right of C19 date. Right hand gable end: single storey flat-roofed shop at ground floor level. Left hand gable end: cross windows to the ground and attic floors with decorative bressumer below the gable and drop and mace finials. Rear: two doorways at right and random fenestration. Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams and joists with stepped lamb's tongue end stops to one ground floor room. Close studding to the walls and two blocked windows and chamfered beams to the first floor. Some rebuilding at one end with pine beams.
