Description

Woodhall Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and has a colourwashed roughcast render, while the ground floor has been encased and rebuilt in colourwashed brick. The building features clay tile roofs and is designed in a two-storeyed T-plan layout. The 19th-century windows include two and three-light casements throughout, except for a 20th-century bow window on the southwest gable end. There is a gabled porch made of colourwashed brick with an oak plank door on the southeast elevation. The cross-wing has a multiple ridge stack, and there are two substantial external chimney stacks on the northwest elevation of the main block, with the upper parts rebuilt in 19th-century yellow brick and the lower parts rendered. A single-storeyed lean-to addition is located on the northwest side.

Inside, the cross-wing's ground floor features moulded beams, which suggest that there was at least a first-floor jetty to the northwest. There are two 4-centred arched stone fireplaces, one of which has foliate carving and a coat of arms, likely imported from another location. Panelled dado, also imported, flanks one of the fireplaces. Additionally, there is an 18th-century staircase with paired turned balusters.
