Description
The Rest is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It features a timber frame that is rendered and color washed, topped with a pantile roof, which was likely originally thatched. The building is two storeys high.
On the entrance front, there is a projecting brick plinth with applied planking that simulates timber framing. The doorway is located on the left and dates from the 20th century, with a timber porch in front. There are narrow lights on either side of the doorway. To the left on the ground floor, there is a three-light and a two-light casement window, while to the right, there are two three-light and one two-light casement windows. At the first floor level, there are three three-light and one two-light casement windows, all dating from the 20th century. An axial chimney stack is located at the ridge, slightly right of center, with a single flue chimney stack on the left gable end. The right gable end features a four-light window on the ground floor and a single-light casement window on the first floor, set in a slightly battered wall.
At the rear, there is a 19th-century outshut on the right with a catslide roof and a similar 20th-century outshut on the left. The far left side has blank walling.
Inside, the ground floor has chamfered ceiling beams with stepped ogee end stops and jowled wall posts.
