Description

This is a mid-19th century building on the south side of Thoroughfare. It has a fine, elaborately carved entablature with the date 1650 centrally displayed above the shop front; the origin of this date is unknown. The building is three stories high and has a single-window front, constructed of gray brick with flank pilasters. It features gauged segmental arches over the windows, including a three-light sash window on the second floor and a three-light casement window on the first floor. The roof is tiled, with a flat gable and verge band. A four-panel door is present, complemented by an oblong fanlight and a shop front with removable panelled shutters. The building is part of a group that includes numbers 40 to 44 (even), 52 to 84 (even), and 90 to 94 (even).
