Description
22 Market Square is a building from the 19th century, located on the south side of Market Square. It has three storeys and features four windows. The roof is tiled, and the building is constructed from Gault brick. It has a wooden eaves cornice and plain stucco bands at the floor levels. The windows are architraved sash types with key blocks and glazing bars. The shopfront has been altered and includes pilasters that support an entablature. There is a carriageway at the east end with a stone semi-elliptical arched head.
At the rear, there is an earlier 18th-century half-timbered wing with a pebble dash plaster frontage. This wing has flush framed sash windows with exposed boxing and glazing bars. The wooden doorcase features a bracketed open pediment with a dentil course and an architraved doorway with panelled reveals.
The buildings numbered 16 to 46 (even) form a group with this property.
